Hey Rubenerd, I have heard about you on The Overnightscape cast. I had to make a double take to see if you where the same Rubenerd. Welcome, take a look around all kinds of stuff going on here. Hope to catch you in the chat sometime.

- Hey there Chris, thanks for the post! Yes I can assure you I am the Rubenerd you heard about :-). I love Whole Wheat Radio; I'm going to uni now and I share a house with two other guys, and we must have it on whenever we're awake (albeit the low-bitrate version because we have cheap internet!).
- I love the idea of a Wiki for WWR, it really makes this whole network feel like a real community. I have to admit with the old site I simply listened to the cast and that's it; not because I didn't like the site but just because it was a great thing to listen to when doing schoolwork; thesedays though I'm trying to et more involved.
- Hope I see you in the chat too :-). Rubenerd 07:37, April 25, 2006 (AKDT)
Howdy!
You are definitely cool Rubenerd! Love your page ... it's great to find out more about you. Someday I hope to catch you listening when I'm on-air cuz I can't wait to say Hi to you on the webcast. Jimbob 06:03, April 21, 2006 (AKDT)
- Wow, thanks for the kind words JB! Very excited by this Wiki based site, looks great. Hopefully sometime soon we'll be awake and tuned in at the same time, timezones permitting... I think Alaska and South Australia are almost completely opposite! We'll see :). Rubenerd 23:54, April 21, 2006 (AKDT)
Hi, Hope your studies in Maylasia are going well and that you stay healthy. -- ReWoven 06:34, February 11, 2007 (AKST)
Great to see you!
Great to see you again Rubenerd! Thought I saw you in Recent Changes but been flying around the pages so much I didn't stop to really take note. Hope all is well with you and thanks for coming by and thanks for helping out! The Special:Wantedpages and other Special:xxx reports are generally not a good place to kick in right now as I'm still rearranging the guts. But adding info on artists is really appreciated ... and since you're technical, adding embedded video from Youtube is pretty easy to do (and fun) if you're looking for something in general. Or, anything that explains "How to" which you feel is missing is good ... particularly if you take a bunch of screenshots, document what you did, and put it together on a Category:How to page.
Hope that gives you some idea of what's needed and is still something fun for you. If not, and you think of something else, don't hesitate to ask me and/or jump in. It's just exciting to know you're hanging around for a few days! I'm gonna go have to check out your sites and see what you've been up to.

Your Mom
I just read about your Mother and I'm so very sorry for your loss. She sounded very special and I know you were close. My thoughts are with you.
Rubenerd, I'm so sorry to have read this news about your mother. I know you were close to her. She is still very much with you, dear, I hope you know that. Wishing you unending comfort, ReWoven (talk) 20:03, March 27, 2008 (AKDT)
Sincere condolences
Rubenerd ... I just saw the link about your Mum and wanted to say as heartfelt as possible ... I'm sorry for your loss. It may sound silly but I always thought about your Mum whenever I saw your name here. She brought smiles when you and she stopped by. In some incredibly powerful/strange way, I know she was a very special person. May you carry on that spark of life.
Happy Birthday!

Tag images
Ruben! Thank you for putting images on tags! It's great to have some help. One thing to remember is to crop tight. It's such a small square, the subject of the image needs to be as large as possible. Also, if you can, flip the image so it's facing the tag. This obviously won't work for famous people, someone playing an instrument, or an image with wording on it. Thanks again—Mert (talk) 06:34, April 25, 2008 (AKDT)
Bingo!
You are so cool! That artist page layout is just too cool. Thanks for showing us all the power of the concept and how radically different it can all look. I am truly impressed. You ever need a job reference, I'd be happy to provide one just based on your obvious passion for the machine and your skill at being able to program what you dream. You have a very bright future in software and system design if you choose to pursue it...
- Wow, thank you, I'm really humbled by your praise, I appreciate it. See, I'm even forming fractured sentences as a result! I might just take you up on that offer one day, as it is currently I have no formal material from teh intertubes. Thanks for opening a new door :-) --Ruben
More than one skin/stylesheet
I've been having almost too much fun! Can one user have more than one style, or would that be serious overkill? :-D --Ruben (talk) 11:40, May 2, 2008 (AKDT)
- I would say "Yes". At the point that we have a problem with too many skins/stylesheets being listed, we could just tag " More choices..." at the end and go to a library page with tons of choices. At this point, I'd like to encourage as many different styles as possible so that people can see the wide variation possible, learn from what other people are doing and so I can see what whacked out ideas my code may have to handle. Jimbob (talk) 12:16, May 2, 2008 (AKDT)
- Cool, thanks :-). Don't worry, I do have some serious ideas this time! --RubenBot5000 (talk) 12:18, May 2, 2008 (AKDT)
Testing Wiki
I think what you've done is fantastic. The page on the difference between print and web would be really useful here and I love the wheat background! (Just heard your phonegram. Too funny.
- Hehe, I admit I created that testbed wiki because I'm so addicted to editing pages, so when that ability was taken away from me it was torture! I still think the editing page does need some work, but I'll transfer all the files and text over here once I've finished my weekend homework.
- Good to be back huh? :-)

GIMP!
In the past I have noted that you are student, fan, and supporter of Linux and BSD. But what caught my attention today is that you recently mentioned GIMP. Not that I am a master, but I am too a fan/student wanting to learn and enjoy more about the GNU Image Manipulation Program. To which I offer you a bribe of sorts, have you ever heard of 'Meet the Gimp'? For me it is a great video resource that teaches short lessons each week about GIMP. If you have ever heard of other sites or tutorials about the GIMP, please let me know? Jac (talk)

Assignment
Okay - well here's something that would be highly useful I think. I saw how you indicate a screen [ button ] which is cool. But it couldn't be that hard to make a stylesheet that looks somewhat like the real grey [ Save page ] or [ Show preview ] buttons etc. Inside a template called { {Button|what it should say} } I could see that being helpful when trying to document stuff to newbies. I suck at CSS but you appear to be an expert. Anyway, just sayin' in case you're bored.

Past chats category
I'm glad you liked the chats category. I think this could be a great thing eventually, I'm imagining being able to go back in time several years and look back on what we were chatting about!
Or it could be I'm a touch obsessive compuslive and the idea of having stray pages was keeping me up at night
Hope you're having a great day! --Ruben (talk) 16:46, May 7, 2008 (AKDT)
- I was actually thinking of doing the same thing, so I think it's a very good idea.
:) I agree it is cool to have this history. If it wasn't for the editing conflict issue, it would be about perfect. Kelli (talk) 16:50, May 7, 2008 (AKDT)
Horoscopes
Hey Rubenerd! I heard your discussion (as a phonegram) of how to turn off the template for astrological sign on my profile page. I'd like to do that, since I don't have my real birthday in there, and it's incorrect anyway. I wasn't quick enough to catch how you said to do that...could you explain it to me?
As a side note, do you know the coding to display my avatar? I'd really like to use it as part of my signature...something like this:
--Bisbonian (talk) 06:57, May 10, 2008 (AKDT)
- Sure thing! I went ahead and added the code to the top of your user page to hide the horoscope; you can Edit to see the changes. Basically it's just a short few lines of CSS that hides the table that the horoscope template is made from.
- Horoscopes were never my thing; plus I read one the day my mum died that said I'd be having a joyeous day with her that day, which kind of put me off them somewhat!
- I'm afraid I'm not sure about changing your sig to show your avatar, as far as I know the only way to do it is just to enter it manually, but I could be wrong. I'm currently in the middle of several uni assignments but once I'm done on Monday I'll be back on the Wiki in full swing and will be looking into it; the avatars are what I miss most from the chat!
- Peace, health and happiness :-)

Today's Topic
Hi, Ruben. Just letting you know I tagged you to do the next Today's topic. Kelli (talk) 17:49, May 11, 2008 (AKDT)
In Singapore in October?
Reuben: I just found out that I'm going to be coming to Singapore in mid-October (to speak at a conference on shipping registries, of all things). Will you be there then? E.D. Egg (talk) 13:22, May 16, 2008 (AKDT)
