Scanner info

Rick, here's the scanner info: Panasonic KV-ss55. http://www.panasonic.com/office/pub/spec_sheets/kvss55.pdf I have the scanner and the user manual. I can look for the 3.5" disks if you want. I used the ISIS driver, but I believe the TWAIN drivers work. http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/products/en/scanner/downl_e.htm

Let me know. Thanks. Davey

I like your page

I really like your page! Lots of nifty pictures and interesting links. --Anagram 20:06, 22 March 2006 (AKST)

Thanks!

Thanks, Rick, for the marvelous pages you are creating, and especially for your help with chatters during the transistion from the old chat. thanks

Hi, RH, I really don't get how this Wiki is going to take the place of a chat room. Can you help me understand that? Gearhead 17:54, 27 March 2006 (AKST)

Oh, yes. I see it now....

Rickhap,

Thanks for the reply you put on my User talk page. I just found the link that goes to the new chat page on the wiki. I don't know how long its been there, but I just found it. Until then I thought that we were going to have to use User talk pages for chatting, and that simply would not be the same. "I was blind, but now I see." Gearhead 10:57, 28 March 2006 (AKST)

Tamale Pie

Have never made this but thought of you. It was in our local paper (on line) today. -- ReWoven 09:33, June 22, 2006 (AKDT)

By PC Chavez (Submitted: 04/13/2006 11:08 am)

Here you go Robert Padilla:

Tamale Pie

Filling: Sauté minced onion, minced garlic and minced green pepper in corn oil until they are lightly brown; add ground beef and pork; brown lightly. Add chopped up canned tomatoes, black olives, salt, pepper and cayenne. Cover and cook on low about 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to marry. Add about ½ cup grated sharp cheddar cheese, 2 Tbsp corn meal and chili powder. Cook until cheese melts, stirring occasionally. Mixture should be the consistency of baked hash.

Masa: Gradually add 1 cup corn meal to water, stirring constantly; cook until thickened. Add the tsp salt. Pour corn meal mixture into greased 2 qt. casserole. Add meat mixture.

Bake in preheated oven at 375º for 20 minutes.

Notes: (1) Some put cornmeal only on the top to cover the pie, some put on both bottom and top. It depends on how corny you like it. (2) For fun and taste, some sprinkle crushed potato chips on top (3) Don’t skimp and be cheap about the cheese. Use sharp cheddar, not medium, not mild. It makes a big difference in the taste.

Measurements are not given as it depends on how much the cook likes the individual ingredients. For example, I like lots of garlic, onion, green pepper, black olives and chile. I would probably use more ground beef than ground pork, etc.

Many boxes of cornmeal have a recipe on the side of the box.

Experiment and have fun!

David Lindley at the Old Town School of Folk Music 6/24/2006

David Lindley show on Saturday was super. Great venue: Old Town School of Folk Music.

An amazing array of instruments: UD, Sud + more. Mr. Dave's Instruments

Mr. Dave did a three Warren Zevon songs: Seminole Bingo, The Indifference of Heaven and Play It All Night Long. Told a story about how Warren Zevon wrote songs: He put a 4 track tape recorder on the passenger side floor of his Corvette. Hung the microphone down over the visor. He had a Casio keyboard on the passenger seat. Played the Casio with the Samba beat and thought up songs while driving. 600 miles would give him a song, two verses, chorus and bridge.

Two funny Lindley songs: Catfood sandwiches and When a Guy Gets Boobs.

When a guy gets boobs was based on a John Lee Hooker lick. Hooker made an apperance in his bathroom mirror one morning: Mr. Dave was told to write a song about his man boobs.

Catfood Sandwiches is a song about backstage food. He played at a music festival for about 40 minutes after a 700 mile drive to the gig. The wholesome organic backstage food was left out in the sun. He had a couple of sandwiches before his gig. OUCH! He also told a story about a gig in Dublin where the backstage food was a big block of head cheese.

Lindley was out front singing autographs and chatting with people. Had a table set-up with his CDs. I had him sign a CD and told him a story about Polish head cheese. We laughed!

Zen Cart

RickHap I logged out of chat and noted your question to me a couple hours later. Here you can see my progress with ZenCart: http://www.islandcrafted.com It's been going slow. Mainly juggling lots of jobs, vacation, summer and a learning curve. Also, one night I lost everything and it took me several hours to get it back! I have been meticously documenting my changes now and I also learned to follow the instructions they note about customization to avoid losing things in the future. How goes it with you? Did you choose a shopping cart system? I have great plans for this site but as per usual with me, the ideas are grand and the follow-thru is here and there! In any case, I do like Zen. I am going to get back working with it this week. Onthebus 14:46, July 16, 2006 (AKDT)

Thank you

Just in case I've not said it enough in writing or on-the-air, thank you so much for your many hours of work and entertainment on WWR. I continue to be blown away by your visual creativity in both photochops and the logos. You are a dream come true for all of us. You have added a wonderful dimension to all of our lives. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Jimbob 10:16, October 15, 2006 (AKDT)

And just made you a sysop since you really seem to know what you're doing on the site. Have fun! Jimbob 13:42, October 22, 2006 (AKDT)

Photochop requests

In case you're ever looking for a new genre of photochops ... I'm thinking of 'seriously' making all sorts of wild claims about the popularity, number of listeners, grandfatherliness, etc. of the WWR audio magazines podcasts. Small logo-size image spoofs that you are the master of will get used on the audio magazine postings a lot. You know...stuff like "Voted #1 Podcast On The Internet" and "Oldest Podcast - Founded 1961" and "Over 65,000 Daily Listeners!" etc. Scratching out 'podcast' and using 'audio magazine' and that whole stupid joke angle too. Just pick up any trash magazine and the ads in the back and their copy are what I'm thinking of. People are taking themselves way too seriously concerning their podcast popularity so I want to poke fun at the whole ridiculous scene and how unverifiable it is ... and your images to go along with my pronouncements will heighten the effect. Just a thought in case you get bored ... Jimbob 17:49, November 14, 2006 (AKST)

We have the annual Gingerbread contest at the end of this month. We are hitting the wall with ideas on what to make. We are thinking of an old steam train engine. Check out the Gingerbread page to see the past. Could you think of something creative that we could construct? Any input helps!

A shoe house? Like the old lady who lived in a shoe? Or a gingerbread tent / camping scene? Or a gingerbread train engine & caboose? I dunno. But I can't wait to see what you come up with. Those things look very very good to eat. Jimbob 22:14, November 14, 2006 (AKST)

I got an idea, but you have the talent...a new WWR logo with an old timey radio, and the legend "Radio Wobegone...where all the songs are above average". --Bis Image:Bisbo.jpg 0623 30 Jun BLT.

Crossroads Guitar Festival - Chicago

Rick,

Have you seen this yet? I had heard it was coming, but I thought he was going to hold it in Austin again since the summer NAMM show is there at the same time.

I'm just getting turned onto the Station/Website. Hello and thank you from Scott Martin in the good state of Michigan!

FORE

A guy stood over his tee shot for what seemed an eternity, looking up, looking down, measuring the distance, figuring the wind direction and speed. He was driving his partner nuts. Finally his exasperated partner says, "What's taking so long? Hit the blasted ball!"

The guy answers, "My wife is up there watching me from the clubhouse. I want to make this a perfect shot."

"Forget it, man," said his partner, "you don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of hitting her from here!"

Bill Staines poster

Okay - I give. How the hell did you get that Bill Staines poster? I don't see it on the web. Which means Nancy sent it to you ... which means she maintains a Latitude 62 email list ... which I simply don't believe. I've always liked her but if she's sending out mass emailings about performers playing The Latitude then I'm *waaaay* more impressed than I was.

BTW, thanks for the Antje handout flyer. I had to print on photo paper it is so classy. I don't deserve you man. Or your sausages...

Jim 18:37, October 4, 2007 (AKDT)

Okay ... I didn't really look that closely at the two posters side by side ... so now that you've explained it, I see the obvious differences. But it's still pretty freaky how similar the posters are. Maybe there are only a few dozen variations in the entire universe of any given set of data to be presented on a poster.

Emily Kurn PDF

Thanks for the very nice looking Emily Kurn promo. The real start date for promo was five days ago. Whenever you post the PDFs, I'll start using them. Thanks. Jimbob 07:00, November 20, 2007 (AKST)

Derek Sivers

Thanks for sharing that Berklee article about Derek Sivers, RickHap. It is just what I needed to read this morning. He's a real inspiration with his clarity of purpose and strength of character. Anyway...Jim popped it up on his reader page and I found it there. A great read and I know I will be referring back to it from time to time! Fine-line (talk) 08:53, March 8, 2008 (AKST)

Yoga and Golf

Hi Rickity, long time, eh? Hope you are well. I just got back from the acupunturist. I am working with the Japanese client this time. The sometimes don't use needles inserted but hold the needle just above the point with strong laser-like focus. They did that on some points and then very shallow insertion in others and then burned moksa. Wonderful treatment after 3 weeks when they were between semesters. Anyway, the reason I am writing is because I saw this person in the Yoga magazine while I was waiting for my appointment and thought I would pass it on. You may have heard about him....thought it was a nice combo. [1] Happy spring and lovely greens. ReWoven (talk) 15:31, May 12, 2008 (AKDT)

Rickity, you had me going with the oil of oregano. Image:Rotfl.gif Too funny. I'm glad you enjoyed the link. I knew you were having trouble with the knee but didn't know you had it operated on. Glad to hear that thangs are going well with that and that you are bach in the swing of thangs. Beautiful morning here, after very cold last few days. Hope you are well, Rickity. Am sure you are with the oil of oregano surging through your veins. My new kick is barley actually. It's suppose to lower cholestorol. Won't make you spell better though.
