It's A Small World

Hi Bycracky, It's a small world, isn't it? My father passed away 20 years ago, and rarely discussed the war. Several years ago, I came across some of his old insignias, photos, papers, and letters to my mom, in the attic, and with the help of the internet, was able to piece together much of his military history. While I recognized the 82nd Airborne insignia, at the time, I didn't even know about the 17th Airborne much less the 507th and 505th PIRs. I found two books on the 507th PIR /17th AD -- Dominique Francois' 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment and Donald Pay's Thunder from Heaven. My father's name is listed in the latter. I also exchanged several emails with a former member of the 507th PIR -- Howard Huebner. (I don't know if he's still among the living, but he was a wealth of information even though he did not recall knowing my father.) It's amazing what those guys did, and I will always feel honored that my father served with such a great group of men. I will make it a point to visit the museum some day. Thanks for contacting me! Below is a shadowbox I made in my dad's honor. Kimchifox (talk) 05:57, May 27, 2008 (AKDT) Image:Kimchi Shadowbox.JPG

Hi Bycracky,

It might be easier if we send email to each other rather than using the talk pages. You can send me email by displaying my User Page, scrolling down until you see the toolbox near the bottom of the page on the lefthand side. Just click on Email this user as I've specified my email address. I would definitely be interested in receiving more info, and you can share my photo if you'd like. Thanks!
