About Kimchifox
I currently live in Kingston, NJ with my wonderful wife, Arleen, and three sons, Kurt, Ryan, and Grant. I'm a native Floridian, born and raised near Tampa, FL. I moved to NJ in the mid-60's, and except for a three year stint with the U.S. Army have lived in central NJ ever since. At 36 years of age, I learned that I was adopted, found my biological family, and went from being an only child to one of eleven children over night!!! I'm a big blues fan, an avid decoy collector, love to fly fish and bleed NY Giants BLUE!
My love of fishing took me to Talkeetna, AK the summer of 2005 where I had the good fortune to meet Esther and Jimbob and share a few beers with them at the "Wheat Hole." I was also fortunate to meet the lovely Chinookc and spend two nights at her beautiful Talkeetna Chalet B&B -- which I highly recommend.
2007 was a very good year. I saw some great musicians -- Taj Mahal, Joel Foy, James Harman, Los Lobos, Jimmy Thackery, Johnny & Edgar Winter with Rick Derringer, Derek Trucks, Jim Weider, Warren Haynes, Chip Taylor, Brian Stoltz, Dave Mason, Debbie Davies, and John Mayall. I'm looking forward to seeing Esther on the East Coast leg of her 2007/2008 Magical Mystery Winter tour.
I also caught some great fish in 2007 -- a 130 lb. lemon shark and a pair of 4 lb. snook all on a flyrod. The pursuit of these fish took me to two great vacation spots -- Key West and Sanibel Island, FL -- and introduced me to the funkified sounds of Brian Stoltz at the Green Parrot Bar, the first and last bar on US Route 1. My boys had an excellent year fishing as well which is extremely important to me. Hopefully, I am instilling the love of fishing in them as my father did for me. The hope is that it will take them to some very beautiful places, and they will meet some very wonderful people -- long after I'm gone. But until then, you'll continue to hear me shout, "Fish on!!!"

Some Favorite Musicians That May Not Be Familiar to You
1. Roy Buchanan - Roy could have played with the Rolling Stones, but chose not to. I was fortunate enough to see him play in late 1987 at the Stanhope House before his untimely death in 1988. He's playing "Sweet Dreams" here, the song I've requested my wife to play at my wake.
2. Jim Campilongo - Sometimes a "challenge" to listen to, but my cheeks always ache from smiling when Jim hits those notes!
3. Danny Gatton -- An unbelievable Telemaster! He could play every genre effortlessly! Regrettably, I never got to see him play live. Check out some of his rockabilly stuff on YouTube. It'll blow you away!
4. Jimmy Thackery - I first saw Jimmy with the Nighthawks back in 1976 when he opened for Muddy Waters at the Cellar Door in Washington, DC. I've been an enormous fan ever since.
5. Jim Weider - Jim is a CDBaby find, and boy, am I glad I found Jim. An extremely talented guitarist and, relatively speaking, a local, so I get to see him live a couple of times a year.
6. Scotty Anderson - I stumbled across Scotty a few years ago on Amazon.com looking for artists who sounded like Danny Gatton. While it's arguable that Scotty sounds like Danny, you'll get no argument from me that this guy can absolutely torture the tele!!!
7. Will Ray - Will is on my list of must-see musicians before I die. Country, blues, jazz -- you name it, Will plays it like no other!
I'd be interested to hear what you think of these guys and hope you would share some of your "unknown" favorite musicians with me.
