Excerpt from Cate's blog:

Went to the Ark in Ann Arbor last night. First time for me. I can't believe I haven't been there before. What a resource! What amazing talent they have there. I was astounded and upset that they had Janis Ian there earlier this year, and Girlyman was there just two days ago! If you've never heard their song Viola[[1]]--well, you don't know what you're missing. And I didn't know what I was missing. Got to sit in the front row. Excellent. Got to put my feet up on the stage. Better yet.

Opening act was Chris Pureka. OMG! So good! I was enthralled. So enthralled. I think I'm easily enthralled, but that doesn't mean she wasn't fan-flippety-tastic! (I was going to swear, but thought better of it) She was just up there with her electric acoustic and a girl friend singing backup. GF also played a little fiddle. Beautiful. Just beautiful. I hope to heck she sends a disk to JimBob, and she has a new CD coming out soon too.

Then on to the main act, Kris Delmhorst (Kris' website) . She was mostly doing songs from her new CD, Strange Conversation(which all of her supplies for the show got mailed to the wrong address, so she didn't have any with her to sell - which was kind of a hoot, because this was supposed to be the CD release concert!) The songs from her new CD are mostly inspired by classic poetry, Byron, Browning, e.e.cummings, Virgil, etc. Very cool. Made me think about what classic poetry I might like to set to music.

Anyway, Kris was marvellous. She was up on stage playing her acoustic/electric with her friend--geez, I can't remember his name now. He played electric, dobro, mandolin and an acoustic/electric, and he has a CD out of his own with an excellent song. I'll have to look him up later because he was incredible. (Mark Erelli and his excellent song is called Imaginary Wars (Mark's website) - geez, he's done WWR house concerts. My ignorance is astonishing, even to me!).

What performers! Guys, ya'll got to see her! Cate 03:42, April 20, 2006 (AKDT)
