iTunes is an Apple written audio player that comes bundled with the latest versions of Mac OS X and works well for Macintosh listeners, though it also can be used on Windows.
Setting up iTunes for listening to WWR
If iTunes is the default media player on your Macintosh clicking on either the low, medium or high speed streams links on WWR pages launches iTunes and start playing the stream.
The low-speed stream sends about half as much data as the high-speed stream. This results in significantly lower audio quality. But for listeners who have only dial-up access or who want to keep their bandwidth usage to a minimum, the low-speed stream is preferred.
If iTunes is not your default media player and you simply want to listen from iTunes, go to the "Advanced" menu in iTunes and click "Open Stream...". Cut and paste one of the stream URLs depending on your internet connection into the text box:
- http://64.62.252.134:2670/listen.pls for low speed
- http://64.62.252.134:2680/listen.pls for medium speed
- http://www.wholewheatradio.org:8000/listen.pls for high speed
Then click OK. The WWR stream should start playing.
You can access WWR from the Library in iTunes whenever you want to access the stream again. Radio stations you have listened to are denoted by a broadcasting icon. You cannot directly save a radio station stream in the Radio list which is preloaded by Apple, but you will find them in the Library list.
