8:01 pmDanny (talk/contribs)'night Jenny. following your lead... Image:Umail.gif
7:57 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Image:Goodnight.gif all
7:55 pmJenny (talk/contribs)True. I'm worn out from the last 8 years and 2 campaigns.... I hear people saying its going to be bitter campaign season, but I think we're all tired of it. One of the appeals of his original message. He's been really good at staying out of the usual mud slinging... impressive.
7:49 pmDanny (talk/contribs)Jenny, valid concern IMO. the trip across the ocean for Obama is more about creating an image of a leader that has real experience versus the "short timer" label that Obama has had assigned to him by Limbaugh and company. it is all politics of course. i just want the person most concerned about hungry new-born babies elected. while not joyful the choice is clear...
7:43 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Plexed - he can send some of that my way.... I'm ready for winter. Of course, "winter" in TX probably like a "good" alaskan summer.
7:41 pmJenny (talk/contribs)I'm a little worried he is becoming a "commodity".... the cult of personality might overshadow what he is capable of achieving, it may wear thin before the election
7:34 pmDanny (talk/contribs)i agree Jenny. Sen. Obama is a rock star in Europe. not sure what that means back here in the US as voters begin to set their mind.
7:31 pmPlexed (talk/contribs)Oops, I guess you need to register to see it. Says AK's been having a record gloomy "summer."
7:29 pmPlexed (talk/contribs)Now we know what Jim's been suffering through: http://www.adn.com/life/story/473786.html
7:28 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Wow, that's overwhelming Danny. He packed the house in Ft. Worth. First political rally I've ever attended. Reminded me of a rock concert at the time.
7:26 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Good night Chris
7:23 pmChris (talk/contribs)Goodnight Grace, Goodnight Sir Blukness...err...I mean Scobey Image:Smile.gif , Goodnight all Image:Wavingicon.gif

7:16 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)I had friends in MIT...I think...hmmm, I will get back to you on that MIS?
7:15 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)My dad published a paper called the Buckhead Sun-Times (or something close, this was before I was talking...in long sentences) out of Atlanta, got sick of big city life around the Olympics
7:14 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Infamous character sounds like the more interesting choice
7:13 pmJenny (talk/contribs)I wonder what percentage of WWR listeners are in IT related jobs....
7:12 pmJenny (talk/contribs)So story-telling may be in the genes, then?
7:12 pmDanny (talk/contribs)very cool Lilginks. when i push the eject button on IT in about 15 years i'm headed to the first small town paper that will have me. something more than real about covering people with which you break bread daily.
7:11 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)I think you are a either Celebrity or an Infamous Character in being a small town newspaperman
7:09 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)that's what my dad is exactly: a writer for a small town newspaper
7:07 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)good headline in Cadiz...I couldn't quite get how to read more of that story.
7:06 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Image:Dientes2.gif Might be fun to be a writer for a small town newspaper....
7:01 pmFirewalk (talk/contribs)I Grew up in Sheboygan
7:00 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)talk'n
7:00 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)Thank YOU all...keep talk
6:55 pmDanny (talk/contribs)too true Jenny and i appreicate your feedback. i thought it might just be me but I think that there are several levels of something funny about that article title.
6:53 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Image:Bye.gif Mert
6:51 pmChris (talk/contribs)Thanks for the story Grace Image:Smile.gif -- I'm glad I finally caught your show!
6:50 pmFirewalk (talk/contribs)Image:Hello.gif folks
6:50 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)Night Mert
6:49 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)Those are great pictures of wonderful Emilie, the YCC leader I worked with
6:49 pmChris (talk/contribs)g'night Mert Image:Wavingicon.gif
6:49 pmDanny (talk/contribs)'night Mert.
6:48 pmJenny (talk/contribs)That is a GREAT headline
6:47 pmMert (talk/contribs)Thanks, Grace. Good night, all.
6:47 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Not too often, and when it does, the sky just opens up and pours for 10-30 minutes, then the sun comes back out. I moved here from new england. It rains differently here. Its weird.
6:44 pmDanny (talk/contribs)agreed Mert! only in Kentucky.
6:43 pmMert (talk/contribs)What a hoot, Danny.
6:39 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)Texas...when does it rain where you are Jenny?
6:38 pmDanny (talk/contribs)the headline of this article from my hometown paper kills me. i moved away decades ago but try to read the online copy of the local paper as time permits. i think the tone and tongue-in-cheek nature of this headline speaks volumes about how the folks around which i grew up influenced me. Road paved accidentally following overturned asphalt truck
6:38 pmJenny (talk/contribs)Rain, snow, I'm good. If the sun is beating down, I hide in the air conditioning. Clearly, I'm in the wrong state.
6:38 pmChris (talk/contribs)Wow, there are a lot of songs with "rain" in the title -- haha
6:36 pmMert (talk/contribs)I pretty much forge ahead through rain. Snow is another story, can't afford to get stranded alongside a road.
6:30 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)and rains...back in a bit to end the stories
6:26 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)a friend of mine is a Cali man and has been hibernating here in Talkeetna due to our rains and rains and rains
6:25 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)you guys ARE up late...a good number of Northeastern listeners :)
6:25 pmChris (talk/contribs)I can't remember the last time I was delayed by the rain Image:Smile.gif -- doesn't rain all that much here in California!
6:23 pmMert (talk/contribs)Sorry, Grace, can't think of one, thought it's late and I'm fuzzy.
6:17 pmMert (talk/contribs)Wo ho! Cool and not humid here, should be good truck sleeping this weekend. They have bats, so no skeeters.
6:15 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)the change that evolved from the delay itself...not what was delayed...sense?
6:14 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)Thanks You guys...any rain delayed plans that you'll never forget?
6:11 pmMert (talk/contribs)Kimchidude! Hi, Grace. I'm enjoying your story. You have a very pleasant voice too.
6:05 pmKimchifox (talk/contribs)Wasn't me Lilginks, but it is nice to hear your voice on WWR! Image:Smile.gif
6:05 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)i am a dork and got caught up in the fact that someone said something to me...Beta doesn't speak and Jim is busying himself with travel and tomorrow's house show
6:03 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)thank you for that wonderful phone message....was that KImChiFox from NJ?
5:55 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)gramatic bad etiquette...excuse me...tell me about your random rain delays
5:49 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)is terrible...could be an economic disaster..."
5:48 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)there is a visitor here, a fabulous farmer...speaking of rain...her opinion she says "it
5:48 pmLilginks (talk/contribs)rainy day thoughts...
5:03 pmMert (talk/contribs)Never mind.
5:01 pmMert (talk/contribs)Stream down?
5:00 pmMert (talk/contribs)Romance? What's that?
4:49 pmCub Driver (talk/contribs)Image:Hehe.gif
4:49 pmCub Driver (talk/contribs)Possible budding romance here? Image:Stupid.gif
4:47 pmMert (talk/contribs)Okay, that's a start. Thanks.
4:46 pmChris (talk/contribs)I'm male
4:45 pmMert (talk/contribs)Chris, at least tell me this: are you male or female?
4:45 pmMert (talk/contribs)Image:Big_grin.gif
4:42 pmScobey (talk/contribs)Image:Tongueout.gif
4:37 pmChris (talk/contribs)okay -- "Sir Blukness" it is! Image:Smile.gif
4:15 pmScobey (talk/contribs)I prefer Sir.
3:41 pmMert (talk/contribs)Scobey, gonna start calling you His Blukness.
3:05 pmScobey (talk/contribs)bluk
1:49 pmPeterdale (talk/contribs)Image:Tip_of_the_hat.gif
1:47 pmMert (talk/contribs)Peter, your jazz show is coming up. Don't tune out yet.
1:43 pmPeterdale (talk/contribs)For the armchair travellers here are the Google earth coordinates of the Chathams: 44.00 South 176.33 West Image:Wave.gif
1:35 pmMert (talk/contribs)Bon voyage, Peter!
1:24 pmPeterdale (talk/contribs)Off to the Chatham Islands for a quick job over the next few days. No computer or TV. If I suffer too much from withdrawal pangs from the wheat, I will send a message in a bottle. Should reach Anchorage by around Tuesday 10th December 2020. Image:Bye.gif
1:16 pmMert (talk/contribs)That's true, Peterdale. Not everyone can carry it off.
1:09 pmPeterdale (talk/contribs)No need to feel sorry 12-er. It is a rare skill and takes a lot of lung power Image:Smile.gif
1:03 pm12-stringer (talk/contribs)(Pretty Saro / The Chicago Sessions / Rose Laughlin) Sorry, but I really dislike the underwater guitar effect ...
12:41 pmScobey (talk/contribs)If it wasn't for the weather, 3 out of 4 people wouldn't know how to start a conversation.
12:26 pmScobey (talk/contribs)Anchorage Weather
11:59 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)I talked to him.. he is planning on Friday night.
11:58 amScobey (talk/contribs)Here Jim Image:Easybutton.jpg
11:56 amScobey (talk/contribs)Jim needs an Easy button.
11:50 amMert (talk/contribs)And what really made her want to strangle him was when he said, "Sometimes you show signs of intelligence."
11:49 amMert (talk/contribs)When my mom got dressed up, my pop said she was "puttin' on the dog."
11:42 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)I like the one my mom used to say... "I haven't had so much fun since the hogs ate little Willie"
11:39 amScobey (talk/contribs)When I was 17 I thought my dad was the dumbest person in the world, now that I'm 22, I'm amazed how smart my dad got in 5 years.
11:38 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)You folks are always welcom at my place Cub Driver
11:37 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)YES but you are going on vacation... so its ok
11:37 amScobey (talk/contribs)Diana Z at the Taproot, Anchorage
11:34 amCub Driver (talk/contribs)Okay, you camp on the beach, I'll stay at your house. Image:Hehe.gif
11:33 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)Well, I have a tarp!!
11:31 amCub Driver (talk/contribs)...in the rain. Image:Depressed.gif
11:25 amCub Driver (talk/contribs)I love camping on the beach in Seldovia!
11:21 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)Also.. lady with Eric Brace is his wife/manager...I just found out.
11:20 amKingfisher (talk/contribs)If people lower Kenai Peninsula want to go to a house concert down here... Seldovia is having one Saturday. They could camp at the beach!!
11:13 amScobey (talk/contribs)Sleep in the car!
11:09 amterri (talk/contribs)<- example of evolution inaction...
11:04 amJim (talk/contribs)If you didn't get an email about Peter Cooper / Eric Brace house concert and feel left out, you can get them along with others here in webpage format.

10:40 amKelli (talk/contribs)Image:Hug.gif Terri!
10:39 amterri (talk/contribs)hi everyone!
10:39 amKelli (talk/contribs)I'd send you some of our heat if I could.
10:38 amJim (talk/contribs)Yeah, I saw that headline. Didn't read it cuz I didn't want to get depressed. Image:Smile.gif
10:35 amScobey (talk/contribs)Check out the story in the ADN.
10:34 amScobey (talk/contribs)We are about to set a record for the coldest summer!!!! ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 49.3 says my weatherstation.
10:32 amJim (talk/contribs)Hey - anyone else notice that it's cold! I mean, I may actually have to fire up the woodstove to take off the chill! Is it September already and I missed my vacation?? Image:Colon-o.gif
10:29 amJim (talk/contribs)Of course, we here at Whole Wheat Radio never screw up and our books are 100% accurate to the penny!  :-) (Truthfully, they are very accurate but I've been known to kick in $0.02 if they don't balance perfectly after a house concert where $1,000 in 1s, 5s, 10s, and a can full of change and t-shirt sales and tips etc. don't balance to the penny)
10:27 amJim (talk/contribs)Wow - it looks like the iTunes referrals are working: Looks like someone bought a $0.99 song and we got $0.05 commission and then 2 people bought albums(?) for $7.92 combined total and we got $0.40 commission. Hmmm. The site that ties into iTunes (not an Apple site) is horrible - slow, report structures that I haven't seen since 1984 , slow - and I question the accuracy. The internet is an entire exercise in "trust" when it comes to these referral commissions ... and if history is any precursor (which it usually is) someday there's going to be a huge scandal when it's revealed that Company ABC has only been paying 30% of the actual commissions earned - be it referrals or actual MP3 sales. I really feel for musicians who are 100% sheep to the slaughter when it comes to simply having to trust that iTunes and a zillion other services actually pay them everytime someone purchases one of their MP3s.

7:09 amKazookid (talk/contribs)Bingo!
6:35 amDoctordoug (talk/contribs)Bo Diddley,.. Bill Donovan... ???? Image:Lol.gif Ohh,... Mr Zimmerman.
6:28 amKazookid (talk/contribs)Although some "Notable" Artists in the Genre were known to make very minor changes in traditional songs and then successfully obtain copyrights on music the "was" in the public domain. An artist whose first name begins with "B" and whose Last name begins with "D" comes to mind.
6:23 amKazookid (talk/contribs)A mostly tongue and cheek term I used to use in my stage banter, it would more correctly be phrased "Contemporary Pseudo Folk"
6:17 amKazookid (talk/contribs)A term I've used for 30 years or more, "Pseudo Contemporary Folk" to differentiate from Classic Traditional Folk Songs. At the most basic level the difference is the music of the latter is largely in the public domain while the writers of the former mostly hold copyrights.
5:50 amMert (talk/contribs)I've also been combining "Alternative" with "Folk." Great Lake Swimmers come to mind. Folky, but, er, different.
5:48 amMert (talk/contribs)I've been thinking about Kazookid's suggestion that a "Contemporary" tag would be useful. I can see it used for with "Folk" for the folkies who aren't Pete Seeger.
5:32 amMert (talk/contribs)Music for the people! By the way, there's a Today's Fun Topic.
5:29 amDoctordoug (talk/contribs)Songs for all!!
5:26 amMert (talk/contribs)Doug, thanks for the tunes coming up.
5:20 amDoctordoug (talk/contribs)Hmm,.. How did I get these songs dedicated to Rubenerd when he hasn't rated them?
4:35 amChris (talk/contribs)Image:Yawn.gif well, I'm off to get some sleep -- see you all later Image:Wavingicon.gif
4:21 amMert (talk/contribs)Mornin', dd. Same to you.
4:21 amChris (talk/contribs)Hi Dr. Doug Image:Smile.gif
4:18 amDoctordoug (talk/contribs)Mornin,.. Happy Thursday,..
3:47 amChris (talk/contribs)Hi Mert Image:Smile.gif -- haha, yes, I plan on figuring out what to put on my page next month -- i'm too busy with work right now!
3:39 amMert (talk/contribs)But I, for one, would love to know something about you.
3:39 amMert (talk/contribs)Good morning, Chris! You know, if you put something on your listener page, even just a few words, your red name will become blue and you'll look like a veteran!
3:35 amChris (talk/contribs)Hope you have fun at Falcon Ridge! (hopefully the rain will let up so you don't get any more flooding in your basement)
3:32 amMert (talk/contribs)Have a great time!
3:30 amE.D. Egg (talk/contribs)Anyway, off to make the PB&J sandwiches, empty the de-humidifier one more time, throw everything in the car, and hit the road. See y'all next week.
3:28 amMert (talk/contribs)We think we're in control, but we're really not. Less stress if we "go with the flow," eh?
3:28 amE.D. Egg (talk/contribs)Thanks, Chris (and Mert). Luckily the most important guitar and mando were upstairs, and the instruments were mostly on stands which kept them out of the worst of the water (although they did all get a least a bit wet). This is the third major basement flood we've had, but none have had the same cause (#1: frozen pipes burst; #2: sewer main exploded -- that was fun; #3 just an absurd amount of rain after a summer of an absurd amount of rain) so there's not even anything we can obviously do to keep it from happening again.
3:23 amMert (talk/contribs)Beth, sorry to hear about the flooded basement—grf—but hope you have fun at FR. I bet you will, despite the rain.
3:22 amChris (talk/contribs)Hi E.D. Image:Smile.gif -- hope your instruments are okay!
3:16 amE.D. Egg (talk/contribs)) (see, control freak; can't stand an unclosed parenthesis . . .). Hope everyone is dry and happy.
3:16 amE.D. Egg (talk/contribs)Not to mention that we were up until the wee hours of the morning dealing with a Very Flooded Basement (and that the basement is where most of the instruments live -- I have a music room there) so there are now instruments and cases strewn around the upstairs try to dry out . . .
3:14 amE.D. Egg (talk/contribs)Morning all; a quick hello before I head off to Falcon Ridge, where it is supposed to be raining (and even thunderstorming) all day. Sigh,
