Will Putman's early influences included 60's folk recordings from his parents' LP collection. Bluegrass entered his musical life during his Montana years and it was then that he also started writing songs. In 1987 he recorded "Northwords" with Anchorage fiddler and songwriter Shonti Elder. That was followed in 1991 by a second collaboration of original material with Shonti, "Homefires." In 1996, Will released his first solo CD, "The Middle of Nowhere," a concept album of original tunes and songs loosely based on the changing of seasons in Alaska. He has since released "Mom's Picks," a 'best-of' compilation of his earlier work, and in 2004 released his newest album "15 Hours on the Road.".

Will Putnam plays guitar with a drive like no other I've seen; almost as if it is a piece of heavy equipment. The songs he has written are mostly about his life's expereinces and he sings them with an intensity as great as he plays guitar. If you ever get to see a Will Putnam perfomance, please fasten your seat belt and hold on. You will enjoy your ride.
