The Vinal Avenue String Band consisted of Kris Delmhorst on fiddle, guitar, & vocals; Sean Staples on mandolin, guitar & vocals (now fronting The Resophonics and playing in Session Americana as well as with Tim Gearan, Todd Thibaud, and many othes); and Ry Cavanaugh on guitar, harmonica & vocals (who went on to create the bands Maybe Baby with Jennifer Kimball, and Session Americana). The repetoire included songs by all three band members and a smorgasbord of covers from traditional fiddle tunes to songs from Merle Haggard to Prince. VASB played two unforgettable tours in Ireland and for several years played every Monday night at the Somerville, MA bar Tir na nOg. This 1999 album is a warts-and-all live recording capturing something of the spirit of that weekly phenomenon..
