The acoustic pop duo Storyhill got its start in Bozeman, Montana where Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson first met as youngsters in a seventh grade geography class and were drawn together by their love of music. In 1989, they recorded their first tape as Chris and Johnny, upon graduating high school. The two then went different directions. It was while John was a student at St. Olaf College in Minnesota that he was performing and selling a lot of copies of the recording that he made with Chris, that he convinced Chris to join him. They played together, traveled and toured, and parted again to go in different directions. The fans of Storyhill were relentless enough to bring them back together.
In April of 2008, Storyhill, with their impressive harmonies, was named Best Acoustic Ensemble at the Indie Acoustic Project's Best CD's of 2007 awards.
