RAINVILLE took an extended break from playing, recording and touring in 2003. There is talk of a third record being the works with the possibility of select shows. This is long-awaited news for fans and friends of the band. For the uninitiated, here is some background information…

RAINVILLE plays honest to God, gritty American music… part rural rock, part gutter jazz. Sparse and loose like that last night before pay day... stories about falling stars, stolen cars and roadhouse bars. Their songs get in your head. Hear them once and they keep showing up on your front porch at 2 AM, a little drunk, staring at their boots… grinning. RAINVILLE has been writing and playing in and around Denver since early 1998. Come to a show and you'll likely see 5 or 6 folks on stage… pedal steel, mandolin, piano, violin, harmonica…. But there are four guys who show up for every gig:

John Common -- Guitars, Vocals

John sings like a drunken preacher, drinks like a preaching singer, and preaches like a singing drunk. He wishes he played trumpet instead of guitar. He used to live in Kansas and that explains a lot.

Matt Sumner -- Bass, Vocals

Matt knows things that no one else knows (or cares to). He plays bass the way some people make bombs - passionate attention to detail. Do not argue with Matt when he is driving. You will lose.

Steve Richards -- Drums

Steve isn't a drummer. He just plays like a very good one. He once told a joke that started with, "So a dwarf, three hookers, and The Pope walk into a bar..." Steve has been dubbed, "The Mayor of Rainville."

Ian Hlatky -- Guitars, Vocals

Ian looks like a member of the Russian Mafia and sings like a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He plays more instruments than we care to list. Ian is always thinking about something..
