1997 saw the end of Lisa Kane's endeavors as a funk fusion guitarist in the Minneapolis female punk band Zelpha Trippe. Letting go of the luxury of an effects processor Lisa relied on her education in music and spent the next few years honing her performance skills locally and regionally from coffee houses and house concerts to bars and charity events. Song Schools and Performance Workshops have allowed Lisa to participate in a deeper level of creativity under the guidance of Patty Larkin, Cliff Eberhardt, Ellis Paul, Beth Nielsen-Chapman, Steve Seskin and Maggie Simpson.
Kane released her debut album Old Strings & All in 1999. Three songs from that disc were selected for a John Ervin film The Vixen Highway. Her follow up release Sooner...Than Later garnished the Independent Folk Release 2001 award with Spectator Weekly and a feature story on Minnesota Public Radio. She has been invited to perform at the Minnesota Music Awards and received the title of Twin Cities Favorite Female Performer 2002 from The Minnesota Women's Press. Song contributions to compilations CD's include The Minnesota Acoustic Showcase, Voices in the Wilderness, Earth Mother Mind Jam 2002 and Raising the Barre Records, New Artist Series 2003.
Kane released her third independent CD Surroundings in June of 2002 which remained the most-requested, most-played CD on KFAI radio for 15 weeks. Mother Nature's Pace, a story song from that release, was included on NPR's Living On Earth in April of 2002. The album was nominated for Acoustic Album of the Year by the Minnesota Music awards in 2003 (along with Leo Kottke and other nationally known artists). Lisa is set to release her self-produced album, "Armstrong Avenue" in May of 2005. It is currently being reviewed worldwide.
Lisa Kane makes her home in St. Paul, Minnesota. She tours and performs regularly.
