“Songwriting is my key. It is what holds me together in such a way that I can communicate how I feel.”
Jane Eamon is no stranger to songwriting accolades. She has won four Okanagan Music Awards – folk artist (2), female performer and songwriter of the year. She has received honorable mention from the Billboard Song Contest, the Great American Songwriting Contest and American Songwriter magazine. She won spots on several compilations - Dig Your Roots, one of three chosen from Western Canada, Protest Songs for a Better World, Okanagan Homegrown and Kelowna’s Songwriters.
She led a team of four writers to pen the official Centennial Song for Kelowna, “100 Years”. She has shared the stage with such greats as Roy Forbes, Stephen Fearing, Bill Henderson, opened for Maria Dunn, Terry Morrison, and participated in Bluebird North, Canada’s show and tell for songwriters and recently garnered a rare local performance at the prestigious Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival. She’s been featured on NPR’s Open Mic show, Whole Wheat Radio and countless other folk radio programs throughout the US and Europe.
Eamon released Deep Water, her 3rd CD in September 2006.
"I wanted to do an album of music that really spoke to me. I wanted to step into the places where my mortality and aging could be explored. I think I’ve managed to do this with Deep Water. By using traditional forms, like spirituals, bluegrass gospel, my take on old time melodies, I’ve written about what matters to me today. Working with producer, Andrew Smith is always a joy. And to be able to tap into the vast resources in the musical community here in the Valley is a gift.”
Eamon continues to perform with husband, Gord Brush. Folks who've caught Jane and Gord are always impressed with the energy and passion they bring to their music.
