Dennis Caraher grew up on a farm in Iowa and now lives in Northampton, Ma.
Many of his songs reflect the beauty and grace of rural life but he also captures the loneliness and sometimes despair of lives in isolation.
But what doesn't kill you makes you funny. Well, something like that. Anyhow, he can be very funny and whimsical. Check out "Kindergartner in Love" or "Wanna be a Cowboy".
He also has two kids records. Bow Wow Baby and Dog Bone Town. They won awards. Yippee! Parents Choice.
His latest record for adults is called "Radio Boy" and is getting some great press ("'In the Rain'" could fit on Bruce Springsteen's 'Nebraska'" so says the Springfield, Massachusetts Union. That song is also featured on Neil Young's site: Living With War (http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/lwwsongspage.html).
And this from the radio show "Highway 61": "'Radio Boy' is a stunning album, it has echoes of some luminaries lie John Prine and Chuck Brodky and it with no doubts one of the best debuts I heard from a singer-songwriter in recent times (along with the one of Sam Baker)"..
