Dave Morrison is a singer-songwriter from Altadena California (a little foothill town up the slope from Pasadena), who is well known to the L.A. area acoustic music community, but a well kept secret elsewhere. He has been writing steadily and performing sporadically for twenty years, while raising a family, and working blue-collar jobs. Some years ago, while sharing a bill with acclaimed Chicago duo, Small Potatoes, an audience member was video-taping the show. Later this person mailed a copy of the tape to the Potatoes. Dave's performance was also on the tape. They fell in love with the songs, recording one on the album they were finishing and another on their next studio album.

Dave continued to labor in obscurity while his songs slowly made their way into the world courtesy of the widely touring Small Potatoes. Others covered them too, having heard them on the Spuds' CDs. In 2005, sidelined with a vocal-chord injury, Morrison wrote eighteen short stories, and is working out the details for publishing ten of them as a collection.

Meanwhile the kids were growing up, and the marriage was over and it suddenly seemed reasonable to Dave to put a little effort into recording himself. Mark Humphreys of Trough Records had made Dave an offer years earlier, and now the two of them set about making the first CD.

The result is "A Little Farther Down the Line", a fourteen-song collection featuring the talents of many of California's best players, including Bob Malone on keys, Tom Corbett on mandolin, and Daryl S. on violin and viola. The Humphreys-produced album has garnered airplay in fifty-odd cities and is finding a foothold in Europe, receiving play in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Scotland, and other countries.

Morrison says that he has enough songs written for two or three more records, and has plans for a live recording in the coming months, to be followed by another studio album in '09..
