Christine Saunders was born in Guelph Ontario, Canada on January 3rd, 1970. By the age of three she knew she would grow up to become a singer. Christine performed for her parent’s weekend company, singing out the songs from her favourite legends Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Johnny Cash. Near the end of High School she formed a kick-ass band called Quarter Moon after the Emmylou Harris album.
In 1991 Christine earned a nomination for Best New Talent at the CCMA’s after winning the Budweiser Talent Search in Southern Ontario. She then appeared in a CBC one hour special with Michelle Wright – broadcast nationwide, performed at the CNE, CFCF’s Telethon of stars in Montreal, and performed road shows with Coda The West for CKGL.
The release of her debut album “Beautiful Life”, is an intimate musical expression created from snap shots of Christine’s emotional experiences. Each of the 11 tracks captures the joys and pains experienced over the past few years. “All of the people I have had relationships with since the day I was born, have influenced the material on this album” says Christine.
There will be those quick to include Christine Saunders alongside such artists as Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Merchant. Yet in many ways, this Canadian singer/songwriter stands apart with a musical vision that remains steadfastly her own and personal growth that has spurred her artistic evolution.
