From the Steel Mill to the Stage: Until a few years ago Angelo M. (short for Melasecca) could be found working toward his 30 year pension in a Pennsylvania Steel Mill. Though an accomplished finger-style & slide guitarist, who also plays Dobro, mandolin and harp; Angelo M., shelved the idea of being a full-time musician years ago to raise his family with the security of a day-job. Then the steel company dissolved in bankruptcy 6 months before his scheduled retirment taking with it his pension benefits and chance to retire. So, he tossed his hard hat, reached for solace in his guitar, and decided it was time to follow an old dream. Using the unwelcome twist of fate as a muse of sorts he began penning songs for his all original debut CD, Far From Home; his first step in the transition from steelwoker to performing songwriter. Angelo M. wrote all the music and lyrics for the CD, and plays all the instruments on the disc except the drums.

Since leaving the steel mill Angelo M. has been casting a strong impression on the music scene: A Rootstime Review calls him a “Brilliant Guitarist” with an “Excellent Voice" and says his song “"Lost" produces "Goose Bumps";“ two of his songs, Far From Home and Thirty Years are featured in the PBS TV Series, Roadtrip Nation, airing nationally (fall/winter 06), and he won an Honorable Mention in the prestigious 2006 “Mountain Stage” NewSong Contest for his song Thirty Years.

His 06 tour included performances at the Atlanta Blues & Music Festival and the 13th Annual Kalamazoo Blues Festival where reviews called his performance “Powerful” and said he was “One of the Highlights”. And in 2005 he received a standing ovation at the Johnstown Folk Fest, and made his European Debut. In addition to performing at various festivals and listening room venues throughout the US in 2007 Angelo M., is scheduled to appear on a nationally syndicated radio show, and release his 2nd CD.

Influenced by Leo Kottke, Ry Cooder, Chet Atkins and Duane Allman, Angelo M. offers and eclectic acoustic collection of finger-picked American Roots (Blues/folk).
