Andrew Allan
Born in 1956 a few miles from Liverpool, this UK-based singer/songwriter started writing songs at the age of ten! His main influences are Paul Simon, Don McLean and the Beatles.
Although his songs were never strictly folk, he spent much time gaining experience appearing in folk clubs in his early twenties. His first single, "Street Singer," was cut at the age of 22. A couple of years later he went full-time professional as a guitarist-vocalist performing in many parts of the UK as well as in Norway.
He no longer performs in public but recently became involved in songwriting and recording again. "Long Roads and Memories" is a selection of eight songs, most of them written recently. The songs are mainly gentle and about love, lost love, nostalgia and memories. Another album is on its way.
AndrewAllan was born near Liverpool and involved in music fron an early age. At 24, he was a full time professional gitarist/vocalist. He worked mostly in restaurants and hotels using his soft, gentle voice to perform songs by artists such as Paul Simon, Don McLean, The Beatles, and James Taylor, which were often blended with songs from Andrew's folk club days. He worked in many parts of the UK and a fair amount in Norway. Nowadays he rarely performs in public, but is still involved in songwriting and recording.
Traveling Through the Year is a selection of Andrew's own songs written over many years. The songs are mostly romantic ballads with several references to the sea and the seasons in the lyrics. Some of the finished tracks have quite a haunting feel to them. read more...
