Amberjack Rice is a psuedonym for The Rice Moorehead Band. Rice Moorehead started playing guitar and harmonica at JB's Riverside Hideaway (an illegal bar that made it's own liquor called "Splo") in Knoxville, Tennessee. Playing raw, raunchy, Blues and Soul music every Friday and Saturday night from 10 until the last drunk left was a perfect start for him. After a couple of years, he moved into the Knoxville club scene playing with Sugar Hill recording artist Scott Miller and others.
Soon Rice tired of his sleepy homtown and moved to the slightly less sleepy Austin, Texas. Almost immediately he started writing as many songs as he could squeeze out of a pen and hooked up with the Blues/Punk band Bigfoot Chester on bass. Throughout the years Rice has joined local groups such as The Ideals and the Memphis/Austin all-star group South Filthy, and he continues to play with Bigfoot Chester and leads his own combo. With Cindy Toth (The Reviers) on bass and Jill Csektz on drums, the Rice Moorehead Band is thick and funky with all the roots of Rock and Roll, no bullshit screaming and hollering, slide guitar and the two girls in the rhythm section! read more...
